Dangers of a Cracked Windshield

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Deals Glass Services is glad to see that so many of our customers who have encountered repairable damage come down to the shop as soon as possible to have the damage repaired before it gets worse.  Unfortunately, when the damage is more severe and obviously cannot be repaired, many people wait to have the glass replaced.  Whether this is due to the cost, or the presumed inconvenience of a bigger job, driving your automobile with a critically damaged windshield is an inherently dangerous practice.

With mobile repair available and insurance footing most of the bills, we hope to see more Charlotte area drivers coming in for replacement immediately.   Since the windshield is essential to the structural integrity of the vehicle, driving around with a severely damaged auto glass is equivalent to ignoring frame damage. Auto Side Windows, To Laminate or Not to Laminate?

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Many of America’s later model automobiles have been constructed with laminated side window glass, the problem is that many car owners don’t know what type of windows they have.  Since there’s a big difference in the type of repairs needed for these two types of glass it is important for consumers to understand what type of glass they have and the benefits and drawbacks of each type.

While laminated side windows were at first a new technology reserved for foreign luxury cars, they now appear in other automobiles, including some American SUVs.  With laminated side windows becoming more prevalent, many drivers are becoming more familiar with the benefits that laminated glass can provide.  One of the most notable advantages of laminated side windows, and probably the biggest draw to luxury car makers, is the quieter ride provided by layered glass.   The plastic laminate material provides an additional sound barrier, helping to suppress outside noise in the passenger cabin. Thankful for Reliable Insurance Companies

Friday, December 4th, 2009

With the holidays upon us, we seem to be reminded of the many things we are thankful for, not just at home but in the business world as well.  This season, we at Deals Auto Glass want to give a big thanks to Allstate Insurance for making some changes that put customer satisfaction and quality service first.

Auto Insurance is an extremely competitive market with so many companies marketing their customer’s annual savings over other companies.  But often you have shopped around and annual savings aren’t making a big difference in your monthly payment.  Then how can you tell the difference in what you get from an insurance provider when you really need them? Saving with Prompt Windshield Repair

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

If you have ever been driving along and heard that distinct noise of pebble on glass, then you know that everyone dreads the sudden crack spreading across their line of vision.  Many breathe a sigh of relief when they find the point of impact and see a little chip in the glass – but not so fast.

Chip repair won’t cost as much or take as much time as replacement, but it should still be repaired as soon as possible.  Over just a short period of time moisture and dirt tend to accumulate in the damaged area, making it harder to repair without any visible evidence of the damage.   And without the proper attention things can quickly go from bad to worse.

Even after the initial impact the chip can quickly turn to a crack with the strain of every day driving, especially if there is more than one point of damage. Not only do road bumps and wind pressure act upon the glass while driving, air temperature can destroy a windshield just as easily.   Many times we have had customers come in to replace and windshield that had been chipped and cracked overnight.   Once a chip has spread to a crack longer than an inch or so, it can’t be safely repaired.

One must also remember that the windshield is critical to the structural integrity of the car.   Most of us wouldn’t want to drive ourselves and our families around in a car with frame damage.   So why do we drive around with damaged windshields?

Why Pay More for OEM Glass?

Monday, May 11th, 2009

The damage is too severe for repair.  You will need a replacement windshield.   For car owners who have found themselves in this predicament, many find the choices that follow to be overwhelming.

The shop is trying to talk you into OEM auto glass, which of course, costs a little more than an aftermarket windshield.  Why should you pay more for a piece of glass than you absolutely have to?  There are a couple of very legitimate reasons that OEM glass is a better choice, and when considered, often overshadow the small difference in price. Does Your Windshield Repair Tech Know What They’re Doing?

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

With so many different “professional opinions” on the limitations of auto glass repair, consumers often having a hard time deciding which is the best shop with the best solution.  While many of the one man mobile units say they can repair a crack up to one foot, the consumer must remember that the windshield is as important to the safety of the car as any part of the frame.  Not only does the windshield support the roof of the car, in the event of an accident it plays a critical part in the safety restraint system by deflecting the airbag.
