Independently Owned, Solely Responsible

Monday, July 19th, 2010

At Deals Glass, we take pride in the fact that we are independently owned and operated in a field of increasingly larger chain businesses.  While repair and replacement chains may have advantages when it comes to geographical reach and financial leeway for flashy advertising, an independently owned shop has many more advantages that benefit the customer.  In a world of mega-stores, many people have forgotten the degree of service and responsibility that was once associated with smaller businesses.

Problems occur at any business (or home for that matter), but the real indication of quality leadership and effective teamwork is how those problems are addressed.  We believe that having the owner (someone whose personal reputation is closely associated with the performance of their company),  present in the everyday operation of each individual aspect of the shop makes all the difference.  When the business owner knows each employee, and that employee’s history with the company and role in daily proceedings, problems can be solved more quickly and efficiently. The Many Methods of Improving Window Efficiency

Monday, May 10th, 2010

Many of today’s thermopane windows are more than just simple insulated glass.  There are ever changing methods that window manufacturers use in an effort to make insulated windows more energy efficient.  The problem is that not all of them are designed to last as long as one would expect new insulated windows to last, and some are not as effective as manufacturers can make them out to be.

One common method that is available in modern insulated glass windows is filling the windows with Argon or Krypton gas. The problem with this method is that gases can leak out over time.  But amount of time this takes is hotly debated, some saying it is almost impossible for the gas to leak out, while others state that the gas could be gone before the window is installed.  Since the equipment required to test the level of argon in the window (or if there is any) is very cost prohibitive, few people can tell you if your gas has withstood the test of time. Spare the Crane, Save the Window – Commercial Glass Repair

Friday, April 16th, 2010

Any business owner whose property entails a glass storefront, knows that replacing the glass is a more costly and arduous ordeal than the average person would expect.  This is especially true for windows above ground level, which would require scaffolding, lifts and possibly a crane.  Since commercial glass must be installed and removed from the outside, this requires that the old glass be safely transported to the ground then the new glass must be elevated, carefully aligned and properly installed – without a scratch.  Needless to say, this is usually an expensive, formidable task that can be more than a little dangerous.

The possibility to save business owners from this plight is what makes Deal Glass Services so thrilled to be providing commercial glass repair to Charlotte and Lancaster area proprietors.   Commercial window and storefront repair can save these businesses from all the issues that make replacement such a painful procedure – including the cost.  After considering the options when faced with fogged commercial glass, repair makes the replacement process seem archaic. Foggy Windows Affecting Your View on the World?

Monday, January 4th, 2010

With local temperatures taking a dive, many homeowners in the Charlotte area have noticed that some of their windows seem to have developed a permanent fog.  This permanent window fog often happens during the change of seasons, when the conflicting indoor and outdoor temperatures fluctuate and the glass expands and contracts.  The movement of the glass can cause the seal between the two layers of glass to fail, allowing air and moisture inside the window and causing window fog.

Deals Glass Services can now provide residential window repair as well as replacement of just the glass window pane.  Contact us as soon as you notice the ruptured seal and the telltale “perma-fog”, and we can actually remove the air and moisture from between the two glass panels and give you a good as new appearance.   When you repair  or replace the foggy glass rather than replacing the entire window unit, you save yourself time, money and the hassle of having a hole in your home.

Deals has a new commercial explaining the benefits of repairing or replacing just the fogged glass window pane.

You can contact us online or by phone to set up an appointment for Deals to come to your home and clear up your foggy windows.

Thankful for Reliable Insurance Companies

Friday, December 4th, 2009

With the holidays upon us, we seem to be reminded of the many things we are thankful for, not just at home but in the business world as well.  This season, we at Deals Auto Glass want to give a big thanks to Allstate Insurance for making some changes that put customer satisfaction and quality service first.

Auto Insurance is an extremely competitive market with so many companies marketing their customer’s annual savings over other companies.  But often you have shopped around and annual savings aren’t making a big difference in your monthly payment.  Then how can you tell the difference in what you get from an insurance provider when you really need them? Repairing Foggy Residential Windows

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

When a window in your home has a constant foggy appearance it means that the seal has failed.  Once this happens there are three options for the homeowner: replace the entire window unit, replace the glass in the window, or repair the existing window pane.  There are several factors taken into account when deciding which is best for you, and often the first thing to consider is the cost.

Since the foggy window repair process is a fairly new idea, many people facing thermopane seal failure don’t even consider this solution.  At a price of about $90 it is the most cost effective, can be completed in about an hour and since we aren’t disposing of the old glass, it’s also the most environmentally friendly method.   But if you wait too long  after the seal fails, the moisture will permanently stain the inside of the glass giving it an opaque or mottled look – then the foggy appearance cannot be repaired. Why Pay More for OEM Glass?

Monday, May 11th, 2009

The damage is too severe for repair.  You will need a replacement windshield.   For car owners who have found themselves in this predicament, many find the choices that follow to be overwhelming.

The shop is trying to talk you into OEM auto glass, which of course, costs a little more than an aftermarket windshield.  Why should you pay more for a piece of glass than you absolutely have to?  There are a couple of very legitimate reasons that OEM glass is a better choice, and when considered, often overshadow the small difference in price. Safe Tempered Glass Tabletops

Earlier this week the Today Show featured this segment about injuries to children and the elderly caused by glass tabletops and other glass furniture.  They also discussed how tempered safety glass, the same type used in auto side windows, can be used in your home to reduce the risk of injury or even death.  The clip demostrates the difference between the way a traditional piece of glass furniture would break as opposed to a tempered glass tabletop. Does Your Windshield Repair Tech Know What They’re Doing?

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

With so many different “professional opinions” on the limitations of auto glass repair, consumers often having a hard time deciding which is the best shop with the best solution.  While many of the one man mobile units say they can repair a crack up to one foot, the consumer must remember that the windshield is as important to the safety of the car as any part of the frame.  Not only does the windshield support the roof of the car, in the event of an accident it plays a critical part in the safety restraint system by deflecting the airbag.
